By creating an account, accessing, or using Scryla, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Scryla is an online author plotting and planning application that allows users to create, manage, and organize writing projects, including chapters, scenes, outlines, notes, and certain uploaded files and images.
We may modify, update, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice.
2. Accounts
2.1 Registration

2.2 Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and not sharing your login credentials.
We are not liable for losses caused by unauthorized access to your account where you failed to maintain adequate security.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
3.1 Subscription Plans
Scryla offers paid subscription plans. Details of current plans and pricing are available on our website.
3.2 Merchant of Record
Payments for Scryla subscriptions are processed by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Ltd ("Paddle"). Paddle is responsible for payment processing, tax calculation and collection, invoicing, and refund handling.
Your payment information is handled directly by Paddle and is subject to Paddle's own terms and privacy policy.
3.3 Billing Cycle
Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select, and renew automatically unless canceled before the end of the current billing period.
3.4 Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to the Service until that date.

Our refund policy is described on the Refunds page. In summary:
- We offer a 14-day refund window for new subscriptions.
- Refunds are not provided for renewal payments.
- Refund requests must be submitted via support@scryla.com.
Refunds are processed by Paddle.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose;
- upload, store, transmit, or share content that is illegal, defamatory, infringing, malicious, or otherwise violates the rights of others;
- upload or store malware, viruses, corrupted files, or other harmful code;
- use the Service to store or distribute content that exploits, abuses, or endangers others;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
- interfere with, disrupt, or misuse the Service or any related infrastructure.
We may investigate suspected violations of these Terms and may suspend, restrict, remove access to content, or terminate accounts where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, comply with the law, or enforce these Terms.
6. User Content
6.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all content you create or upload to Scryla, including text, outlines, notes, and related data ("User Content").
6.2 License to Operate
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, and process your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.
6.3 Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your User Content and for ensuring that it does not violate any laws or third-party rights.
6.4 Uploaded Files
Where the Service allows file or image uploads, you are solely responsible for the content you upload and for ensuring that you have all necessary rights and permissions to upload, store, and use that content.
We do not claim ownership of your uploaded files. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, store, process, display, and transmit such files solely as necessary to operate, secure, and provide the Service.
We may apply file type restrictions, storage quotas, file size limits, technical controls, or security checks to uploaded content. We may also remove, disable access to, or refuse to process uploaded content where reasonably necessary for security, operational, legal, or policy reasons.
7. Data Storage and Backups
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or the permanent preservation of User Content or uploaded files.
The Service may apply storage limits, file size limits, or other usage restrictions depending on your subscription plan or technical requirements.
You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of critical data and files.
We do not routinely monitor or review all User Content or uploaded files, but we may investigate content where required to operate the Service, enforce these Terms, respond to security concerns, or comply with legal obligations.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or for operational or security reasons.
You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription.
Upon termination or suspension, your access to the Service and to associated User Content may be restricted or ended. We may delete data and uploaded files after a reasonable retention period, subject to legal, operational, or security requirements.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you to use the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
